About the Position

The County of San Diego is seeking a highly skilled Environmental Planning Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Parks and Recreation Department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the long-term sustainability of our natural resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide biological expertise to inform land use and environmental planning decisions
  • Implement the Multiple Species Conservation Program (MSCP) and ensure compliance with relevant regulations
  • Review and analyze biological resources survey reports and resource management plans
  • Develop and implement management and monitoring strategies for plant and animal species on Parks and Recreation properties
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in biology with a concentration in wildlife and/or botany, and at least two years of professional level experience in the field of biology as it relates to land use/environmental planning
  • Master's degree in biology with a concentration in wildlife and/or botany, and at least one year of professional level experience in the field of biology as it relates to land use/environmental planning
  • At least one year of experience as a Land Use/Environmental Planner I with the County of San Diego
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proven experience in preparing and reviewing reports and studies related to biological resources during the review of discretionary project applications
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders and colleagues
