Position Overview

D2 is in search of a Chief Financial Officer / Chief Operating Officer (CFO/COO) to become a vital part of its executive leadership in Dallas, TX. The ideal candidate will possess a strategic outlook, adept at managing both operational and financial dimensions of a burgeoning firm. The CFO/COO will be tasked with overseeing the daily operations of the firm while concurrently managing its financial strategy and reporting obligations.

This role encompasses the development and execution of operational strategies, overseeing IT, human resources, legal, compliance, and administrative functions, and collaborating with the investment team to boost operational efficiency.

The CFO/COO will supervise all operational and financial activities of the investment vehicles and management company, which includes subscriptions, redemptions, accounting, reporting, tax compliance, and liquidity management. They will be responsible for crafting financial models and forecasts, managing relationships with investors, vendors, counterparties, banks, and financial institutions, and ensuring timely and precise financial reporting and adherence to regulatory standards.

This position entails significant leadership and strategic responsibilities, including collaborating with the firm's leadership to align financial and operational decisions with the investment strategy and serving as a primary contact for investors, counterparties, and other stakeholders. This is a highly visible role with direct involvement in shaping the future of the firm. The CFO/COO will be expected to build and lead high-performing teams across operations and finance functions while adapting to the evolving needs of a growing organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting required; MBA preferred; CPA is a plus
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in finance and operations, with substantial time in leadership roles
  • Strong background in alternative investments, particularly in asset-based strategies across public and private markets
  • Thorough understanding of both open-ended and closed-end institutional investment vehicles
  • Self-starter with a proven ability to scale operations in a growth environment
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong financial modeling and forecasting capabilities
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills, able to articulate complex financial and operational concepts clearly
  • Experience in managing relationships with banks, fund administrators, external auditors, and other external constituents
