Supervision: Project production team, including internal and external resources

Position Overview:

The Project Architect plays a crucial role in generating construction documentation. This position requires collaboration within a multidisciplinary team to optimize resource utilization, enhance design and construction synergy, increase project profitability, and elevate the value-added strategies provided by KAI.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the coordination of team efforts and effectively communicate project scope, schedule, and budget requirements.
  2. Develop a comprehensive drawing set in accordance with KAI's production standards, ensuring alignment with labor budgets and timelines.
  3. Provide weekly updates to the Project Manager regarding the progress of tasks during various project phases, managing team members and reviewing labor hours against estimates.
  4. Manage the keyed note system and ensure coordination with specifications.
  5. Collaborate with the BIM/VDC Manager to clarify model uses and deliverables, integrating them into the labor budget and schedule.
  6. Initiate project setup following project kick-off information and maintain daily model management and administration.
  7. Ensure compliance with the firm's record retention standards for project documentation.
  8. Assign personnel strategically to ensure efficient task completion.
  9. Keep the Project Manager informed of production status and recommend adjustments to team personnel as needed.
  10. Ensure adherence to construction document standards.

Project Management Responsibilities:

  1. Operate within the defined Scope of Work.
  2. Collaborate closely with the Project Manager and project designer to interpret design programs and concepts.
  3. In the initial project phases, assist in visually communicating design ideas and objectives to the team and clients.
  4. Conduct assessments of building and accessibility codes and standards.
  5. Support the Project Designer in preparing detailed design drawings, schedules, site work, and material selections for construction documentation.
  6. Develop final design solutions that align with the available construction budget.
  7. Work alongside the Project Designer to finalize schematic and design development drawings.
  8. Address design review feedback and coordinate with the Interior Designer for a cohesive design approach.
  9. Enhance the material and product data catalog in collaboration with the Project Designer during the Design Development and Construction Document phases.
  10. Participate in construction administration or assist in reviewing submittals, RFIs, and change orders.

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure the accuracy and constructability of construction documents, leveraging the expertise of the firm's Build group as necessary.
  2. Create preliminary furniture and equipment layouts for design drawings to confirm program requirements.
  3. Coordinate and integrate efforts with internal and external Engineering and Specialty Consultants.
  4. Assist the Project Manager and/or Project Designer in programming and verification processes to meet project needs.
  5. Communicate and integrate requirements from all disciplines throughout the design process.
  6. Mentor junior staff in technical production aspects.
  7. Assist the Project Manager in setting agendas for design team meetings.
  8. Create BIM content that aligns with the firm's standards.
  9. Utilize the diverse talents of our multidisciplinary team to achieve project and firm success.
  10. Collaborate as part of a digital design (BIM) team to ensure consistent outcomes.
  11. Integrate digital design and BIM outputs with other applications.
  12. Maintain project records and filing systems, both electronic and physical.
