Position Overview

We are looking for a Senior Solutions Architect with a strong background in strategic planning and technical influence to support our technology initiatives. This role involves researching, modeling, and integrating business and technology frameworks to align with our organizational strategy and objectives. The Senior Solutions Architect will take a proactive role in shaping the overall technical architecture and will be accountable for the comprehensive solution architecture within the Merchant Payment Services (MPS) division. Collaboration with Business/Product Sponsors, Agile Product teams, and Peer Architects will be essential in driving MPS Technology's digital transformation efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical direction, create design documentation, and implement solutions as part of agile teams. You will lead the end-to-end solutions architecture design and effectively communicate the architecture and design to product leaders and teams.
  • Collaborate with multiple Product teams to deliver architectural documentation, resolve issues, and develop product roadmaps.
  • Assess business objectives, understand long-term goals, and evaluate the risks and benefits of developing strategic technical solutions. Work closely with product leaders and teams in technology assessment, selection, and configuration.
  • Establish and maintain productive relationships with product leaders, architects, and technical leads across various products and applications. Partner with peer architects to identify opportunities for process improvement and enhance customer experience.
  • Work independently and collaboratively with all levels of the organization, including both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate strong presentation skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence decision-making.
  • Apply architectural and design principles, including layered architectures, components, interfaces, messaging, and patterns for enterprise solutions.
  • Define the direction of the architectural roadmap, assess the benefits of engineering initiatives, and determine appropriate investment levels for strategic objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Six to eight years of relevant experience in a similar role.

Preferred Skills:

  • 8+ years of experience in architecture, analytics, design, and development of enterprise solutions across various technology platforms.
  • Extensive knowledge of APIs, UIs, infrastructure, data architecture, security, emerging technologies, cloud migration strategies, and vendor evaluation.
  • Strong understanding of agile development methodologies and DevOps practices.
  • Proficient in client-side technologies (Angular/React, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, CSS) and experienced with Java, Spring Framework/Spring Boot, and web application technologies.
  • Experience with cloud technologies and practices, including building and deploying applications on AWS or Azure.
  • Familiarity with microservices architecture and successful modernization efforts in large organizations.
  • Experience in migrating from on-premises to cloud environments, particularly in mainframe modernization.
  • Expertise in performance, scalability, enterprise system architecture, and engineering best practices in an agile context.
  • Experience in Payment Services, Financial Services, or regulated sectors is advantageous.
  • Customer-centric mindset and experience with Domain Driven Design concepts.
  • Proven ability to translate business needs into technology solutions and a passion for technology across various languages and frameworks.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
