Opportunity Summary:

Anchor QEA is actively seeking a seasoned waterfront structural engineer with 6 to 10 years of relevant experience. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in directing the technical design and execution of waterfront development initiatives. Responsibilities will include the design of various civil and structural elements such as piers, wharves, floating docks, boat launch ramps, seawalls, and breakwaters, tailored for marinas, ports, and harbors. The role will also involve project management duties, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) processes are upheld.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the project engineer under the guidance of a Senior Managing Engineer, leading design efforts on waterfront infrastructure projects.
  • Conduct structural engineering planning and design, including alternative studies, general arrangement plans, basis of design requirements, construction drawings, technical reports, specifications, civil/structural calculations, and cost estimates.
  • Provide mentorship and technical support to junior engineers.
  • Collaborate with geotechnical, coastal, and dredging engineers, as well as planners and biologists.
  • Engage with the client's project manager and technical staff to ensure project alignment.
  • Analyze complex engineering challenges and propose value-engineered solutions.
  • Participate in or lead the preparation and coordination of project deliverables, including construction documents.
  • Ensure compliance with Anchor QEA's quality management standards.
  • Travel as necessary for field site assessments and project meetings.
  • Conduct assessments of existing facilities and infrastructure to gather pre-design information.
  • Support construction activities by reviewing contractor inquiries and overseeing construction processes.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil, Coastal, or Structural Engineering (Master's degree preferred).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in Washington or California, or the ability to obtain reciprocity within 6 months.
  • 6 to 10 years of experience in waterfront, site civil, coastal, and/or structural engineering, with a minimum of 5 years in waterfront facilities projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam Revu, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Experience with structural engineering software such as SAP2000, RISA, LPILE, Shoring8, OPTIMOOR, ENERCALC, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PE licensure in additional states or ability to obtain reciprocity as needed.
  • Familiarity with marina and waterfront codes and references.
  • Experience with federal agency engineering projects.
  • Active participation in professional organizations.
  • Experience with project management software and design tools like Revit, MicroStation, and AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of engineering codes and guidelines.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to produce and review reports.
