Position Overview
Shannon & Wilson is seeking a highly skilled Senior Geo-Structural Engineer with over 14 years of expertise in structural engineering design, particularly in underground infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will take charge of the design process and oversee reviews, utilizing advanced computer-aided design technologies to create structural models. The role involves:
- Leading project opportunities in collaboration with office managers and practice leads.
- Contributing to marketing efforts by providing qualifications for proposals and participating in project interviews.
- Defining project scopes, budgets, and implementing cost control measures.
- Mentoring junior engineers and providing technical guidance.
- Preparing detailed engineering reports, analyses, specifications, and calculations.
- Ensuring quality assurance through technical reviews.
- Offering engineering support during construction phases, including reviewing contractor submissions and conducting site visits.
- Engaging with clients, vendors, and team members across all levels.
- Assisting in the development of cost estimates for design projects.
- Promoting adherence to health and safety policies.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on structural engineering.
- A Master’s or PhD in structural engineering is preferred.
- A minimum of 14 years of experience in structural engineering, specifically for underground structures.
- A Professional Civil Engineering (PE) License is mandatory.
- A Professional Structural Engineering (SE) License is advantageous.
- Experience in delivering structural projects for both public and private sectors.
- Familiarity with various contracting methodologies, including design-bid-build and design-build.
- Active involvement in industry conferences and seminars.
- Proficiency in 3-D structural analysis software such as CSi, SAP2000, MIDAS, RISA 3D, and P-Y Wall.
