Overview:
Anchor QEA is on the lookout for a seasoned waterfront engineering specialist with 8 to 12 years of expertise in the design and execution of waterfront infrastructure projects. This role is pivotal as we expand our portfolio of design initiatives across the nation.

The selected candidate will be responsible for the engineering design of various waterfront structures including piers, wharves, floating docks, boat launch ramps, seawalls, and breakwaters, contributing to the development of marinas, ports, and harbors.

Experience in project management is essential, as the candidate will oversee junior engineers and CAD personnel, ensuring quality assurance and quality control throughout the design process.


Key Responsibilities:
Under the guidance of a principal engineer, the project engineer will:
  • Lead the design efforts for waterfront infrastructure projects and related upland components.
  • Conduct structural engineering planning and design, including alternative studies, general arrangement plans, basis of design requirements, construction drawings, technical reports, specifications, civil/structural calculations, and cost estimates.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers.
  • Collaborate with geotechnical, coastal, and dredging engineers, as well as planners and biologists.
  • Engage with the client's project manager and technical staff to ensure project alignment.
  • Analyze complex engineering challenges and propose value-engineered solutions.
  • Participate in or lead the preparation and coordination of project deliverables, including construction documents.
  • Ensure compliance with Anchor QEA's quality management protocols.
  • Travel for field site assessments and project meetings as required.
  • Conduct existing condition evaluations of facilities and infrastructure to gather pre-design data.
  • Support construction activities by reviewing contractor inquiries and overseeing construction processes.

Qualifications:
Ideal candidates will possess:
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil, Coastal, or Structural Engineering (Master's degree preferred).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in Washington or California, or the ability to obtain reciprocity within 6 months.
  • 8 to 12 years of experience in waterfront, site civil, coastal, and/or structural engineering, with a minimum of 5 years focused on waterfront facilities projects.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam Revu, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Experience with structural engineering software such as SAP2000, RISA, LPILE, Shoring8, OPTIMOOR, ENERCALC, etc.
  • Knowledge of relevant engineering codes and guidelines (e.g., IBC, ASCE 7, ASCE 61, ASCE 41, ACI 318, AISC 360).
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to produce and review technical reports.

Preferred qualifications may include:

  • PE licensure in additional states or the ability to obtain reciprocity.
  • Familiarity with marina and waterfront codes and guidelines.
  • Experience with federal agency engineering projects.
  • Active participation in professional organizations.
  • Experience with project management software and design tools such as Revit and/or MicroStation.
