POSITION OVERVIEW

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Cibola General Hospital will operate under the guidance of the hospital's governing board, ensuring comprehensive oversight of all operational, administrative, and executive functions. This role is pivotal in aligning with the hospital's policies, procedures, and strategic objectives, while remaining accountable to the governing board's ultimate authority.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Collaborate with hospital personnel and board members to formulate both short-term and long-term strategic plans that delineate responsibilities and operational activities in line with the hospital's mission.
  2. Develop an annual administrative and financial plan for the hospital, ensuring alignment with the governing board's directives.
  3. Supervise department heads to ensure effective management across the organization.
  4. Assist the governing board and legal counsel in negotiating professional service agreements, subject to final approval by the governing board.
  5. Review and approve performance evaluations and salary adjustments, addressing employee concerns and grievances as necessary.
  6. Maintain oversight of physician administration within the hospital, adhering to the governing board's directives.
  7. Serve as a liaison between the governing board, advisory boards, medical staff, and various hospital departments, facilitating communication and problem resolution regarding hospital operations.
  8. Stay informed on public policy, economic trends, and community perspectives that may impact the hospital's strategic goals. Engage with healthcare associations and professional organizations.
  9. Direct the financial operations of the CFO's office, ensuring adherence to the hospital's fiscal strategy. Review and authorize financial reports, budgets, and significant expenditures.
  10. Oversee compliance with accreditation standards set by the Joint Commission, Medicare, Medicaid, and other relevant organizations.
  11. Coordinate efforts among the governing board, advisory boards, medical staff, and hospital personnel to uphold quality standards through established loss control programs.
  12. Responsible for reporting significant events to the Compliance Hotline.
  13. Participate in monthly operational review meetings and collaborate with consulting services as needed.
  14. Perform additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE

  1. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are essential.
  2. A Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred; relevant experience is required.
  3. A Master’s degree is preferred.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  1. Comprehensive knowledge of hospital administration.
  2. Understanding of the healthcare sector along with advanced managerial capabilities.
  3. Proficient in written, verbal, and electronic communication.
  4. Demonstrated initiative, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
  5. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver high-quality healthcare.

TRAVEL AND RELOCATION

  1. Minimal travel is required.
  2. Willingness to relocate is necessary.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position is typically office-based. The role requires effective communication, with frequent sitting, standing, or walking. Tasks may involve moderate to prolonged reading, typing, and computer use, as well as the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Exposure to environmental hazards associated with healthcare and office work is possible.

REPORTING STRUCTURE

The CEO reports directly to the Board of Directors.
