Executive Leader of Healthcare Operations

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will be responsible for the overall administrative leadership of Cibola General Hospital, operating under the guidance and authority of the hospital's governing board. The CEO will ensure that all operational, administrative, and executive functions align with the established policies and objectives of the board.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Formulate, in collaboration with hospital staff and board members, both short-term and long-term strategic plans that outline responsibilities and operational activities in line with the hospital's mission.
  2. Develop an annual operational plan and a comprehensive financial strategy for the hospital, subject to the governing board's oversight.
  3. Supervise department heads to ensure effective management across all hospital functions.
  4. Assist the governing board and legal counsel in negotiating professional service agreements, with all contracts requiring final approval from the board.
  5. Review and approve employee performance evaluations and salary adjustments, addressing grievances and making recommendations as necessary.
  6. Maintain oversight of medical staff, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
  7. Serve as a liaison between the governing board, advisory committees, medical staff, and hospital departments, facilitating communication and problem resolution.
  8. Stay informed on public policy, economic trends, and community perspectives that impact the hospital's objectives, participating in relevant healthcare associations.
  9. Direct the financial operations of the hospital, ensuring adherence to the fiscal business plan, and review all financial documents and significant expenditures.
  10. Ensure compliance with accreditation standards set by relevant healthcare organizations.
  11. Coordinate efforts to uphold quality standards through established loss control programs.
  12. Report significant events to the Compliance Hotline as required.
  13. Engage in monthly operational reviews and collaborate with consulting services as necessary.
  14. Perform additional duties as assigned by the governing board.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE

  1. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are essential.
  2. A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
  3. A Master's degree is highly desirable.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  1. Comprehensive knowledge of hospital administration and healthcare management.
  2. Proficient managerial skills with a solid understanding of the healthcare sector.
  3. Exceptional written, verbal, and electronic communication abilities.
  4. Demonstrated initiative, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
  5. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance healthcare quality.

TRAVEL AND RELOCATION

  1. Minimal travel is expected.
  2. Willingness to relocate to the designated area is required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The role is primarily office-based, with responsibilities requiring verbal communication and active listening. The position may involve sitting, standing, or walking for extended periods, as well as moderate to prolonged computer use. Physical tasks may include lifting items up to 50 pounds and exposure to typical healthcare and office environments.

REPORTING STRUCTURE

This position reports directly to the Board of Directors.
