POSITION SUMMARY
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of the hospital, ensuring alignment with the governing board's policies and objectives. This role encompasses comprehensive oversight of all administrative and executive functions, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Formulates, in collaboration with hospital personnel and board members, both short-term and long-term administrative strategies to clarify roles and business activities in line with the hospital's mission.
- Creates an annual operational plan and financial strategy for the hospital, under the governance of the hospital's board.
- Supervises department leaders to ensure effective management and operational efficiency.
- Collaborates with the governing board and legal advisors in the negotiation of service contracts, ensuring all agreements receive final approval from the board.
- Reviews and approves employee performance evaluations and compensation adjustments, addressing grievances as necessary.
- Maintains oversight of medical staff, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and standards.
- Acts as a conduit between the governing board, advisory boards, medical staff, and hospital departments, facilitating communication and problem resolution.
- Stays informed on public policy, economic trends, and community perspectives relevant to the hospital's objectives, engaging with healthcare associations as needed.
- Directs financial operations, ensuring adherence to the hospital's fiscal strategy, and reviews all financial documents and significant expenditures.
- Ensures compliance with accreditation standards set by regulatory bodies such as the Joint Commission and Medicare.
- Coordinates efforts to uphold quality standards through established loss control programs.
- Responsible for reporting significant events to the compliance hotline.
- Participates in operational review meetings and collaborates with healthcare consultants to enhance service delivery.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational capabilities.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is preferred; equivalent experience is acceptable.
- Master's degree is highly desirable.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Extensive knowledge of hospital administration and healthcare management.
- Proficient in managerial practices within the healthcare sector.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrates initiative, creativity, and effective problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance healthcare quality.
TRAVEL AND RELOCATION
- Minimal travel required.
- Willingness to relocate as necessary.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Typical office environment conditions apply. Essential duties may require the ability to communicate effectively, engage in prolonged reading and typing, and perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds. Exposure to various environmental factors associated with healthcare settings is expected.
REPORTING STRUCTURE
This position reports directly to the Board of Directors.
