As a pivotal member of HubSpot's Customer Support division, the Technical Writing Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the creation, management, and enhancement of documentation for HubSpot's primary product interfaces, content management systems, and APIs. This position requires making informed content decisions based on product updates, support case analytics, and feedback from both users and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster a team environment that emphasizes customer needs and consistently achieves Key Performance Indicators.
  • Lead the recruitment, training, and professional development of a high-performing technical writing team.
  • Distribute product areas effectively to maintain a balanced workload across the team.
  • Guide Technical Writers in prioritizing both reactive and proactive content tasks.
  • Enhance the writing skills of team members through content reviews and constructive feedback.
  • Assist Technical Writers in managing relationships with stakeholders and cross-functional teams, including Product Managers and Designers.
  • Provide mentorship and support to help team members identify and pursue career advancement opportunities.
  • Establish standards and processes to ensure documentation is precise and easily accessible.
  • Enhance the experience for internal stakeholders by optimizing the feedback process for documentation.
  • Identify and address challenges related to documentation timelines and resource allocation.
  • Collaborate with other managers to align the team with a clear vision and propel strategic initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in building and leading high-performing, inclusive teams.
  • Strong organizational and project management capabilities.
  • Experience in creating online documentation and mentoring Technical Writers.
  • Ability to partner effectively with product teams and engage a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Experience in utilizing data to inform decision-making.
  • Empathetic leadership style with a focus on providing constructive feedback for team growth.
  • A customer-focused approach to navigating business challenges.
  • Experience collaborating with teams across various functions and time zones.
  • Expertise in developing content strategies and information architecture.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with HubSpot and experience using Airtable.
  • Knowledge of API documentation.
  • Experience in developing content strategy and information architecture.
