Position Summary:

Reporting to the Area Manager, the Project Manager will oversee the planning, direction, and coordination of activities on assigned projects to ensure that objectives are met within the designated timeframes and budget constraints.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, schedule, and coordinate project activities to achieve deadlines.
  • Organize and direct all aspects of the construction project.
  • Prepare and present budgets, project timelines, progress reports, and three-week project schedules.
  • Ensure the profitability of assigned projects.
  • Order supplies and materials necessary for project completion and liaise with construction managers.
  • Monitor job quantity reporting, cost tracking, labor budgets, weekly schedules, and the procurement of specific materials.
  • Conduct weekly meetings with Construction Managers and subcontractors to gather progress updates.
  • Address issues arising from delays, adverse weather, or emergencies at job sites.
  • Assist in creating a site safety plan and ensure all personnel adhere to safety and efficiency standards.
  • Engage with clients by attending and/or leading meetings.
  • Identify opportunities for quality control and continuous improvement.
  • Build strong relationships with clients and subcontractors.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Location:

This position is primarily based in the Waukesha, WI area, with project locations varying throughout the local area and state. Reliable transportation and a willingness to travel to job sites as needed are essential.

Candidate Profile:

  • 5 to 8+ years of experience in the heavy highway construction industry is preferred.
  • A Bachelor's Degree, vocational training, certification from an accredited organization, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • A valid Driver's License and insurability by insurance standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong communication skills to effectively convey information through various mediums.
  • Logical reasoning abilities to assess strengths and weaknesses of different solutions.
  • Time management skills for self and others.
  • Leadership skills to motivate and develop team members.
  • Knowledge of project management principles related to heavy construction materials, methods, equipment, job setup, bidding, invoicing, and contracts.
  • Understanding of business and management principles related to strategic planning, resource allocation, and coordination of personnel and resources.
