Overview

The Senior Shift Supervisor, also referred to as the Lieutenant, plays a crucial role in supporting the Site Supervisor, ensuring that all contractual commitments are fulfilled during assigned shifts. Acting as the secondary Captain, the Lieutenant is responsible for demonstrating leadership, fostering high morale, and overseeing the performance of all security personnel on site. This includes managing shift schedules, providing training, addressing inquiries from Security Officers, and resolving shift-related issues with minimal oversight.

Key Responsibilities

  • Possesses a comprehensive understanding of general orders, site-specific post orders, Chenega Standard Operating Procedures, and relevant policies.
  • Ensures that security officers are informed of any special requirements or anticipated circumstances during their shifts.
  • Reports critical incidents to the chain of command, prepares end-of-shift reports, and documents significant daily activities.
  • Reviews daily reports from security officers for accuracy and clarity, assisting in the preparation of incident reports as necessary.
  • Monitors and updates daily logs, briefing binders, and visitor logs, ensuring thorough documentation.
  • Evaluates post orders and directives, suggesting necessary updates and ensuring compliance among shift members.
  • Conducts daily inspections of security personnel for adherence to appearance standards and inspects equipment and vehicles for compliance.
  • Performs both scheduled and unscheduled quality control inspections, documenting conditions and officer readiness.
  • Manages daily schedules, coordinating with off-duty personnel to cover absences and monitoring overtime for payroll documentation.
  • Handles administrative tasks including issuing equipment, distributing uniforms, and overseeing fleet maintenance.
  • Participates in weapon counts and inventories, ensuring compliance with inventory protocols.
  • Tracks attendance trends among security officers, documenting patterns and addressing any issues of abuse.
  • Initiates appropriate actions regarding disciplinary matters, documenting incidents of officer injuries or serious illnesses.
  • Responds to emergencies requiring supervisory presence, conducting initial investigations into service complaints.
  • Confirms that shift supervisors are fulfilling their responsibilities as outlined in their job descriptions.
  • Ensures that security personnel are equipped with the necessary gear and uniforms to perform their duties effectively.
  • Assists the site manager in overseeing the site-specific security team and developing quarterly training exercises.
  • Contributes to after-action reviews, documenting lessons learned and corrective actions.
  • Facilitates scheduling for site-specific personnel and manages shift replacements as needed.
  • Assists in approving personal leave requests for site personnel.
  • Provides necessary reports to the contract company and clients regarding security incidents.
  • Supervises shift supervisors to ensure appropriate actions are taken regarding disciplinary matters and officer welfare.
  • Oversees all shift supervisors assigned to the site.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Preferred: Associate's degree in Criminal Justice or a related field.
  • Five years of experience in security or law enforcement, with substantial operational experience in military, security, or police fields.
  • Five years of specialized experience in physical security or law enforcement.
  • Equivalent education or experience may be considered.
  • Must maintain a valid State Driver's License.
  • Honorably discharged from military service (if applicable).
  • Proficient in English, with the ability to apply written rules and instructions.
  • Completion of training from a recognized law enforcement or military academy.
  • Must qualify with a 9 mm semi-automatic pistol using the agency's qualification standards.
  • Must meet all federal, state, or municipal requirements to work as an Armed Security Guard.
  • No history of illegal drug use or felony convictions.
  • Must pass a background check and security risk assessment prior to assignment.
  • Must obtain current State armed Security Officer Registration.
  • Must comply with federal identity verification requirements upon hire.
  • Adhere to all government guidelines regarding COVID-19 vaccinations.
