Efficiently scan and process customer transactions while engaging in friendly conversation. Provide assistance to ensure a pleasant shopping experience. Utilize electronic scanners, cash registers, or similar equipment. Handle credit, debit, or benefit card transactions and verify checks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Request additional support if the checkout line exceeds three customers or for large transactions to expedite service.
- Accept payments via cash, check, credit cards, vouchers, or automatic debits.
- Respond to customer inquiries and provide information regarding store policies and procedures.
- Assist customers in locating products within the store.
- Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change as necessary.
- Welcome customers as they enter the store.
- Train and supervise new associates.
- Address customer complaints and provide resolutions.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of checkout areas and perform general cleaning tasks.
- Determine prices of goods and services, and accurately tabulate bills using cash registers or price scanners.
- Answer incoming phone calls and direct them appropriately.
- Package merchandise for customers and prepare items for shipment.
- Assist in various store areas, including monitoring fitting rooms and carrying out customer purchases.
- Restock shelves, organize returned items, and label prices on products.
- Offer carry-out services upon completion of transactions.
- Count cash drawers at the beginning of shifts to ensure accuracy and sufficient change.
- Support team members in various tasks as needed.
- Engage directly with the public.
- Identify and communicate relevant information to the appropriate personnel.
- Maintain effective communication with supervisors and colleagues.
- Build and sustain interpersonal relationships.
- Stay updated with relevant knowledge.
- Communicate with external parties as necessary.
- Provide training and guidance to others.
- Evaluate the quality of products and services.
- Process and manage information effectively.
The role requires occasional sitting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Regular activities include standing, walking, and using hands for various tasks.
