About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Underwriting Research and Development to join our team at USAA. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of complex underwriting initiatives that maintain the relevance and integrity of our underwriting policies, processes, and programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct the identification, analysis, development, and implementation of complex underwriting initiatives
  • Oversee the development, maintenance, and optimization of existing underwriting processes and systems
  • Manage the identification and implementation of opportunities to improve underwriting processes and systems
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to identify and implement underwriting requirements for new products, services, and data
  • Stay abreast of emerging technology and external factors that may present opportunities for underwriting
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or 4 years of related experience
  • 8 years of experience in Property & Casualty, Project Management, Process Engineering, Business Process, or Risk Management
  • 3 years of direct team lead or management experience
  • Advanced knowledge of relevant industry practices, trends, and regulatory requirements
  • Experience reviewing policies and procedures documents and identifying and articulating the risks and opportunities
