Case Manager I

JVS SoCal is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Case Manager I to join our Refugee Employment Program team. As a Case Manager I, you will play a critical role in assisting refugees to attain self-sufficiency by providing culturally and linguistically sensitive employment and specialized services.
Key Responsibilities- Manage a large caseload of clients, providing them with a clear understanding of the program and respective role.
- Refer clients to appropriate program components based on appraisals, test results, and program policies.
- Advise clients of program choices, program expectations, and responsibilities.
- Coordinate actions in accordance with DPSS policy, CalWORKs guidelines, and GAIN procedures.
- Motivate and provide encouragement to clients to move toward employment and self-sufficiency.
- Role model professional business attire and a positive attitude for clients.
- Perform various tasks, including office and telephone interviews, data entry, scheduling appointments, and other case-related activities.
- Review employment goals with clients, provide job leads, and make individual job matches.
- Ensure that all clients have a basic resume and have practiced interviewing techniques to begin job search activities.
- Register and monitor attendance and activities of all clients on caseload.
- Assist clients in locating job openings by utilizing available tools, such as personal computers, fax machines, copiers, employment bulletins, videotapes, and community resources.
- Monitor and review the manner in which the job search is being conducted by each client and offer encouragement and suggestions for improving their job search activities.
- Assist clients in resolving scheduling problems and in planning their welfare to work activities.
- Meet all standards established for this position as outlined in the performance criteria, including job placement, reaching educational goals, processing support services within set policy, and conducting appraisals in a timely manner.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by management.
- Provide services in a culturally sensitive manner.
- Properly document all activities in LRS/CalSAWS system, prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports, and interact with the DPSS when appropriate.
- Must have the ability to follow policy accurately.
- Must be outcome-driven and able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; or AA Degree and two years of case management experience; or AA degree and two years of employment counseling experience; or two years of employment counseling experience in a GAIN environment.
- Excellent time management skills to perform in a fast-paced environment.
- Must have strong computer skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Teams).
- Strong written and communication skills in English and 2nd Language.
- Must be accurate, detail-oriented, and possess good follow-through skills.
- Ability to communicate in a sensitive and professional manner with a diverse group of clients.
- Knowledge of community resources.
- Ability to travel to other locations, is required.
- Experience working with the business community; excellent organizational skills, ability to successfully execute many complex tasks simultaneously; ability to work as a team member as well as independently.
- Must pass criminal and background check prior to hire.
- Bilingual capabilities: (Farsi, Russian, Armenian, Arabic, Spanish).
- Must be able to provide a certified copy of bachelor's degree as well as cooperate in process of evaluation and translation if education is from a foreign country.
While performing the essential functions of this job, the incumbent must be able to do the following: stand for extended periods; sit for extended periods; bend and reach for filing and other job-related functions; climb up and down stairs; bend, stoop, and lift to move and retrieve materials; pull, push, and lift; reach both above and below shoulder height. Specific visual abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to visually inspect work. Manual dexterity to operate computer and other office equipment required.
Must be able to travel between office locations in Sherman Oaks, Woodland Hills, Glendale, and other County of LA locations as needed.
