Safety and Environmental Compliance Manager

Environmental Health Safety Manager (EHS)
Twist Bioscience is seeking a dedicated professional to oversee the Safety, Health, and Environment Department. Reporting directly to the Facilities Director, this role encompasses the management of the South San Francisco facility while also providing support to other Twist locations globally. The position involves ensuring compliance with CGMP and ISO standards in production facilities.
Key Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be responsible for managing the Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) initiatives at Twist Bioscience. This includes:
- Developing and executing SHE management systems to ensure adherence to safety and environmental regulations at both state and federal levels.
- Overseeing all site SHE programs, which encompass Ergonomics, Personal Protective Equipment, Fall Protection, Lock-Out Tag-Out (LOTO), Confined Spaces, Contractor Safety, and Hazard Communication.
- Managing the chemical inventory effectively and influencing others to mitigate SHE risks.
- Conducting ergonomic risk assessments to identify and minimize the risk of work-related musculoskeletal disorders in both office and manufacturing environments.
- Performing inspections and job hazard analyses to ensure workplace safety.
- Identifying and implementing corrective and preventative measures to enhance safety protocols.
- Assisting in the investigation of SHE incidents and formulating corrective actions.
- Utilizing Incident Command structures when necessary.
Qualifications and Skills
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Experience in implementing or managing an industrial ergonomics program.
- The ability to work effectively with employees at various levels.
- Strong planning and organizational skills, with a focus on prioritizing tasks and managing time efficiently.
- Innovative approaches to problem-solving and change management.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with the capability to train others.
- Effective listening skills and a proactive approach to supporting EHS initiatives that align with business objectives.
- Proficient computer skills.
