About the Position
This Research Scientist/Engineer 3 role offers a unique opportunity to drive cutting-edge research in the field of virology. As the Laboratory Manager, you will oversee research projects focused on understanding antiviral systems and therapeutics, leveraging your expertise in genetics and virology.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement novel techniques for genetic manipulation of Acanthamoeba and their giant virus
- Analyze data using next-generation sequencing and bioinformatics tools
- Collaborate with the PI and scientific team to refine project goals and objectives
- Present research findings to project teams and stakeholders
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Microbiology or a related field
- Four years of relevant experience, including at least three years of research experience with giant viruses and their Acanthamoeba host
- Detailed knowledge of culturing, transfection, genetic manipulation, and purification of Acanthamoeba and their giant viruses
- Publishing history demonstrating success in developing or implementing these techniques
