Job Summary:

Liberty Healthcare and Rehabilitation Services is seeking a highly skilled Nurse Consultant to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for providing expert guidance and support to our nursing facilities to ensure the highest level of quality resident care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Consult with assigned nursing facilities to provide expert guidance and support on quality resident care.
  • Conduct site visits and reviews to identify areas for improvement and provide recommendations for enhancement.
  • Develop and implement quality assurance audits to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies.
  • Provide facilities with detailed reports of visits and recommendations for improvement.
  • Assist facilities with compliance with regulatory agencies, including OSHA, DHHS surveys, Medicaid, and Medicare audits.
  • Schedule and coordinate mock surveys and team reviews to ensure quality implementation process.
  • Communicate with Regulatory Compliance Consultant to ensure quality implementation process.
  • Assist facilities in implementing Plans of Correction for cited tags and prepare Informal Dispute Resolutions as needed.
  • Review facility investigations related to abuse and neglect.
  • Monitor facility compliance with standard policies and procedures implemented by Liberty Healthcare and Rehabilitation Services.
  • Monitor facility Quality Assurance and Risk Management Program.
  • Respond to questions from facility staff regarding policies and procedures.
  • Review and update current policies and procedures according to federal/state requirements and current standards of practice.
  • Attend educational sessions pertinent to skilled nursing centers.
  • Serve on committees as assigned.
  • Work with other Liberty Healthcare departments to improve Quality of Care or process improvement.
  • Work with pharmacy, medical supply company, and other vendors to evaluate and/or improve Quality of Care or services to facilities.
  • May be asked to serve as a witness for litigation pertaining to facilities.
  • Assist new facilities in implementing Liberty Healthcare policies and procedures.
  • Assist with orientation of new Directors of Nursing.
  • Coordinate or participate in education sessions for facilities, such as DON meetings and new policy and procedure training.
  • Review QI/QM and DON reports and other facility-generated reports for concerns or trends.
  • Assist facilities in evaluating nursing care, including staffing pattern analysis, role development, or budget analysis.
  • Monitor and assist with Case Mix Management and other financial processes, including budget reviews.
  • Communicate with Regulatory Compliance Consultant to complete weekly summary reports.
Requirements:
  • Must be a high school graduate.
  • Must be a Registered Nurse, graduated from an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Must have a current, valid RN license from the North Carolina Board of Nursing and submit proof of license renewal every other year.
  • Must be willing to serve as Director of Nursing in a facility during vacancies in that position.
  • Must be dependable, flexible, and able to work and cooperate well with all nursing personnel, other departments, and have understanding, patience, and tact in working with patients, families, doctors, and others.
  • Must have ability to make decisions regarding nursing problems.
  • Must be able to teach, instruct, and direct orientation, continuing education, in-services as needed.
  • Must read, know, and follow personnel, department, and facility policies and procedures and adhere to local, state, and federal requirements.
  • Must have working knowledge of the rules and regulations related to skilled nursing.
  • Must have skilled nursing experience.
  • Must have neat professional appearance at all times.
