With 87 inviting guest rooms and 600 sq ft of flexible meeting space, our inn is a workplace that feels like a second home amidst the tranquility of Bishop. Overview:
The Front Desk Supervisor provides guidance and leadership as the lead Front Office Clerk, ensuring consistent quality customer service is delivered. Key responsibilities include:
- Communicating effectively with staff and guests to provide clear direction and resolve conflicts.
- Monitoring lobby traffic and making staffing adjustments accordingly.
- Greeting guests immediately with a friendly and sincere welcome.
- Promptly completing the registration process and inputting information into the computer system.
- Promoting the hotel's marketing program and making appropriate room selections based on guest needs.
- Handling cash, making change, and balancing the house bank.
- Accepting and recording vouchers, traveler's checks, and other forms of payment.
- Converting foreign currency at current posted rates.
- Performing accurate arithmetic functions using a calculator.
- Posting charges to guest rooms and house accounts using the computer.
- Answering the telephone using positive and clear English language.
- Inputting messages into the computer and retrieving messages for guests.
- Retrieving mail, small packages, and facsimiles for hotel guests as requested.
- Remaining calm and alert during emergency situations and/or heavy hotel activity.
- Resolving customer complications and complaints by conducting thorough research and offering effective solutions.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy.
- Basic mathematical skills required.
- Ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system.
- Ability to stand, walk, and continuously perform behind the front desk.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing and prepare complex reports of room availability and revenues generated.
Education and Experience:
The individual must possess a high school diploma and have no prior experience required. Two years combined prior front desk and supervisory experience is preferred. Grooming is also a requirement, with all employees expected to maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance.
