Senior Director of Major Giving Opportunity

Woodwell Climate Research Center is seeking a highly motivated and successful fundraising executive to join our dynamic team as a crucial senior leader. This role is critical to help move our mission forward as we face the urgent demands of the climate crisis and opportunities to maximize our impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a strategic fundraising plan to mobilize resources that fuel groundbreaking research and drive meaningful change.
  • Solicit and steward major gifts from high-net-worth donors, with a focus on 6-figure to 7-figure gifts, including multi-year commitments.
  • Partner with executive leadership and other stakeholders to identify and cultivate new prospective donors and develop donor strategies.
  • Manage a diverse portfolio of high-net-worth donors, with a track record of success in solicitation and closure of new donations.

Requirements:

  • A deep passion for Woodwell Climate's mission and the ability to articulate its unique role in fostering natural climate solutions.
  • Minimum 10 years of fundraising experience, with a minimum of 5-7 years of frontline fundraising experience.
  • Proven experience in soliciting, stewarding, and closing major gifts independently and in partnership with others.
  • Strategic expertise in developing donor strategies and working knowledge of fundraising databases.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with Major Gift solicitation directly supporting a Climate Change mission and organizations that are growing and scaling.
  • Prior direct leadership experience in recruiting, hiring, and mentoring major gift officers.
