Position Overview:

The Tax and State Reporting Compliance Analyst plays a vital role within University Accounting, engaging in a variety of financial and accounting responsibilities with an emphasis on tax adherence and state reporting. This role acts as the primary authority on tax reporting and compliance, delivering expert guidance and professional support for federal, state, and international tax obligations, reconciliations, and submissions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the expert in Service Center analysis, reporting financial information to state authorities, and providing insights into state translations, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Act as the functional subject matter expert in accounting, financial reporting, and state reporting, particularly in relation to the University's support of new systems.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or a related discipline, along with three years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in software applications, particularly Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), and relevant web-based tools that enhance workflow efficiency.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying complex information effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Experience with modern enterprise resource planning systems.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, including the application of debits and credits and account reconciliation.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with departmental, University, state, and federal regulations related to tax compliance.
  • Advanced communication skills with the ability to adapt information delivery based on audience needs.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office products and the ability to manage documents and spreadsheets efficiently.
  • Experience in auditing, reconciling, and analyzing financial data.
  • A Master's degree in a relevant field.
