Position Overview

The Senior Food and Beverage Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Food and Beverage department, ensuring adherence to all policies, standards, and procedures. This role involves managing operational activities, monitoring quality, and fulfilling customer expectations consistently. The manager will also maintain the operational budget and ensure compliance with all relevant standards and legal requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Management

  • Assist in the procurement of food and beverage supplies, cleaning materials, and uniforms.
  • Supervise daily operations of the Food and Beverage department, ensuring compliance with established policies and standards.
  • Support and oversee a comprehensive monthly self-inspection program.
  • Operate necessary departmental equipment and report any malfunctions.
  • Monitor staffing levels to ensure guest service, operational needs, and financial objectives are met.
  • Foster an environment of trust, respect, and collaboration among team members.
  • Understand employee roles sufficiently to perform their duties in their absence.
  • Develop specific goals and plans to prioritize and organize work effectively.
  • Track and maintain employee productivity levels.
  • Ensure all team members understand the brand's service philosophy.
  • Maintain the operational budget and verify compliance with standards and legal obligations.
  • Assist supervisors in addressing the evolving needs and expectations of team members.
  • Communicate areas requiring attention to staff and follow up to ensure understanding.
  • Coordinate cleaning programs across all Food and Beverage areas, identifying trends and recommending improvements.
  • Establish and maintain open, collaborative relationships with employees.
  • Create a work environment that emphasizes motivation, empowerment, teamwork, and a passion for service.
  • Stay readily available and approachable for all team members.

Customer Service Excellence

  • Deliver services that exceed customer expectations for satisfaction and retention.
  • Enhance service quality by assisting team members in understanding guest needs, providing guidance, feedback, and coaching as necessary.
  • Serve as a role model by demonstrating appropriate service behaviors.
  • Manage daily operations to ensure quality standards and customer expectations are consistently met.
  • Proactively address guest concerns to enhance their experience.
  • Maintain a positive example for guest relations.
  • Review guest feedback and satisfaction results with employees.
  • Respond promptly to customer service requests.

Human Resource Management

  • Provide guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring their performance.
  • Administer performance appraisal processes for direct report managers.
  • Conduct performance evaluations for hourly employees in accordance with established procedures.
  • Communicate performance expectations clearly in line with job descriptions.
  • Ensure fair and equitable treatment of employees, striving to improve retention rates.
  • Identify developmental needs and provide coaching and mentoring to enhance skills.
  • Ensure disciplinary procedures and documentation are completed in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Interview and hire management and hourly staff with the necessary skills to meet operational needs.
  • Manage beverage purchasing and control procedures, ensuring staff is adequately trained.
  • Observe employee service behaviors and provide constructive feedback.

Additional Duties

  • Provide information to supervisors and co-workers through various communication methods.
  • Analyze information and evaluate results to select the best solutions for problem-solving.
  • Perform hourly job functions as necessary.
  • Extend professionalism and courtesy to team members at all times.
  • Understand budgets, operating statements, and payroll reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs.
