Job OverviewPOSITION SUMMARY

This role entails overseeing the planning, assessment, design, and construction supervision of structural components for a diverse array of public infrastructure projects. A Lead Structural Engineer should possess the capability to manage several structural public infrastructure initiatives concurrently while demonstrating proven project management skills.

We prioritize candidates residing locally or within the State of CA. Relocation expenses are not covered.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ability to interpret maps, construction diagrams, plans, blueprints, and specifications, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • In-depth knowledge of California Building Standards Codes and associated standards.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment in interpreting code requirements.
  • Propose alternative compliance methods with codes and regulations.
  • May oversee plans examiners, plan check engineers, and/or structural engineers.
  • Prepare and deliver effective oral and written reports.
  • Represent the department in both internal and external meetings.
  • Stay current on legal and technical advancements related to building construction and codes.
  • Mentor and train engineers and plans examiners.
  • Engage in design work for various structures.
  • Perform additional related duties as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 6 to 14 years of relevant industry experience, including 5 years focused on reviewing plans for compliance with model codes.
  • Preferred: Current PE California License.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • ICC Certified Building Plans Examiner.
  • Strong proficiency in computer applications.
  • Exceptional communication skills, effectively engaging with individuals at all levels of technical expertise.
  • Ability to maintain composure in high-pressure situations.
  • Possession and maintenance of a valid Class "C" California driver's license is required.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  • Must be capable of traveling to job sites and walking through them for extended durations.
  • Able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 35 lbs.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods.
  • Work with detailed, finely printed documents.

The salary range for this position is $125,000 to $170,000 annually.

Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
