Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified individual to fill the position of Assistant Professor and Extension Specialist in Nutrition at the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating Extension Nutrition and Food Science programs across the state.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day administrative and programmatic supervision and oversight for Extension Nutrition and Food Science programs.
  • Ensure program quality and collaborate with Extension staff, partner organizations, and community stakeholders.
  • Design and implement policy initiatives to address health equity, cultural awareness, and health literacy.
  • Manage strategic relationships for Extension Nutrition & Food Science programs and provide subject matter expertise.
  • Provide leadership and supervision for UADA Extension Nutrition & Food Science personnel.
  • Secure external funding to support Extension community outreach initiatives.
  • Oversee and provide evaluation guidance for the collection, analysis, and dissemination of Extension Nutrition & Food Science programming and performance measures.
Requirements
  • An earned Doctorate in nutrition, dietetics, community nutrition, nutrition education, food science, family and consumer science, or a related field is required.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical information to a non-technical audience.
  • A commitment to fostering a diverse, collaborative, and collegial work environment.
  • The flexibility to travel throughout the state is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in cooperative extension.
  • Certification as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN).
  • Previous experience with family and consumer science and nutrition or dietetics.
