Job Summary

The Colonial Williamsburg Company seeks a highly skilled and experienced Banquet Operations Manager to oversee the daily operations of our Conference Center. As a key member of our hospitality team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest level of service and quality standards are met for all conference-related functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and lead a team of banquet staff to ensure efficient and timely completion of tasks
  • Monitor and maintain the quality of service provided during functions, addressing any issues or complaints promptly
  • Prepare and review schedules to ensure adequate staffing and budgetary guidelines are met
  • Monitor payroll costs and department expenses, identifying areas for cost savings and revenue growth
  • Coordinate with conference services, chefs, and other departments to design and implement event set-ups
  • Identify and implement benchmark standards for department policy and procedures
  • Attend regular meetings with conference services, banquet, housekeeping, and maintenance departments
  • Meet with conference clients to ensure client satisfaction and maintain positive relationships
  • Supervise a staff of 40-50, including recruiting, hiring, training, coaching, counseling, performance review, and discharge
Requirements
  • General knowledge of conference center operations and banquet services
  • Excellent public contact skills and ability to supervise and train employees
  • Basic mathematical abilities and ability to analyze expenses and manage to budgetary guidelines
  • Ability to work well under deadline pressure and perform physical functions required of banquet set-up staff
  • Preferred: Experience with Microsoft Office Suite products Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Preferred Qualifications: Four to five years progressively responsible positions in banquet services, conference services, or banquet management
