About the Role:
A highly skilled Human Factors Engineer is sought to join our team at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a crucial role in designing and operationalizing advanced and autonomous solutions that revolutionize healthcare and socio-technical systems. With your expertise in human factors engineering, cognitive systems engineering, and user-centered design, you will work closely with scientists, engineers, and stakeholders to develop innovative science and technology solutions that improve health outcomes and enhance human performance.

Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for applying your knowledge of human factors engineering principles, theories, and methodologies to support solutions development. This will involve conducting requirements analysis and development, experimental design, human performance measurement, and system evaluation. You will also utilize User-Centered Design (UCD), User Experience (UX), and User Interface (UI) design skills to rapidly develop prototypes based on proven methodologies. Additionally, you will collaborate with operators and other experts to capture performance feedback, teaming tactics, human requirements, technical recommendations, and field test results for complex systems.

Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you should possess a Bachelor's degree in psychology, human factors engineering, human systems integration, computer science, or a related field. You should also have at least 6 years of relevant experience with demonstrated proficiency in requirements analysis and development, experimental design, human performance measurement, and system evaluation. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills are essential, as well as the ability to travel occasionally to attend meetings with government sponsors and operational stakeholders. A Secret level security clearance is also required.
