Position Overview

The University Physicians Association is seeking a dedicated full-time Pediatric Medical Assistant to join our collaborative team. This role is essential in supporting our specialized practice focused on pediatric gastroenterology.

Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: The Pediatric Medical Assistant will be responsible for various tasks that enhance patient care and streamline office operations. Key duties include:

  • Managing incoming phone inquiries related to medical concerns.
  • Assisting in patient examinations and treatments under the supervision of a physician.
  • Performing administrative, clinical, and clerical tasks to support medical staff.
  • Reviewing patient medical records for urgent requests and specific needs.
  • Preparing patients for consultations by gathering necessary information for documentation.
  • Administering routine diagnostic tests, conducting phlebotomy, and providing injections as needed.
  • Educating patients about their health as directed.
  • Triage clinical care calls, assessing patient needs, and responding in accordance with established protocols.
  • Utilizing electronic medical records while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
  • Following established procedures for appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and other operational responsibilities.
  • Providing additional support to clinical services as required.

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates should possess strong critical thinking abilities, computer skills, attention to detail, and a personable demeanor. The following qualifications are preferred:

  • Previous experience in a medical setting, particularly in gastroenterology.
  • 6 months to 1 year of relevant medical experience.
  • Phlebotomy skills are advantageous.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
