Position: Senior Finance Analyst

Overview:

The Senior Finance Analyst will work closely with the Mill Controller as a vital member of the Finance team at Domtar. This position is essential for maintaining compliance with SOX and GAAP while addressing the financial requirements of the mill, including month-end closing, budgeting, forecasting, capital projects, product costing, and various analytical tasks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee financial entries, account reconciliations, variance analysis, and other essential tasks to ensure a prompt and precise month-end closure.
  • Collaborate with departmental leaders to deliver financial insights that facilitate continuous improvement, capital project justifications, cost-saving initiatives, and other business necessities.
  • Conduct product costing and margin analysis utilizing the Mill's Standard Cost system.
  • Lead the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes for supported areas, including fixed spending reviews, sales and production forecasts, labor, energy, and raw materials.
  • Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and analyses.
  • Assist with internal departmental reporting requirements, such as audit schedules, tax schedules, and annual government reporting.
  • Perform various ad hoc analyses as requested by supported business areas or the Mill Controller to enhance financial outcomes.
  • Engage in additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Exhibit a strong understanding of processes and controls within finance and related support systems.

  • Possess strong business acumen along with analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Drive change and manage through systems effectively.
  • Communicate proficiently across all organizational levels, including listening, writing, and presenting.
  • Work autonomously in a dynamic environment, meeting various deadlines and advancing initiatives.
  • Demonstrate the ability to prioritize tasks, along with exceptional time management and organizational skills.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting.
  • Manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • CMA Certification is a plus.
  • Proficient in ERP systems (SAP preferred) and possess strong Excel skills.
