Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Revenue Administrator I to join our team at the State of Maryland. This role is responsible for adjusting taxpayer accounts located in SMART and RPE for the Hearings and Appeals Division.

Key Responsibilities
  • Adjust taxpayer accounts, transfer misapplied payments, reverse collection agency fees, abate penalty and interest, and approve refunds.
  • Update the tracking sheet once adjustment is assigned, keep track of timeline for completion, and ensure adjustment completed correctly.
  • Follow-up on prior adjustments to ensure that refunds are properly issued and overpayments carried forward.
  • Provide weekly performance reports to the Supervisor.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
  • Four years of professional work experience in auditing, accounting, tax law, general management, or customer service.
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 1 year experience in performing adjustments within SMART and all associated databases.
  • At least 1 year experience in performing adjustments within the Revenue Premier Enterprise database (RPE).
  • At least 1 year experience dealing with income tax.
  • Experience in adjusting various tax types, including personal income tax, corporate income tax, fiduciary income tax, and sales and use tax.
