Manufacturing Process Engineer (multiple positions available)

Overview:

The Manufacturing Process Engineer plays a critical role in delivering engineering support to production operations, with a strong focus on machining expertise and technical acumen.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops and designs manufacturing processes, including process flow, assembly techniques, and equipment utilization.
  • Enhances existing processes through effective engineering solutions aimed at continuous improvement.
  • Designs, tests, and implements tooling, fixtures, and gauges for optimized manufacturing operations.
  • Leads root cause analysis initiatives to resolve technical challenges.
  • Provides technical assistance and guidance to the production team for both immediate and long-term operational needs.
  • Conducts process evaluations to drive quality enhancements, cost efficiencies, and reduced cycle times.
  • Updates engineering documentation to reflect process modifications as necessary.
  • Analyzes spare part issues and implements approved changes to improve efficiency.
  • Prepares new equipment to align with production and quality standards.
  • Executes capability studies and adheres to APQP and PFMEA protocols.
  • Proposes layouts for new equipment installations for management approval.
  • Drafts comprehensive specifications for equipment procurement.
  • Oversees capital investment projects as required.
  • Generates engineering reports for process development and troubleshooting activities.
  • Engages in 5S practices to maintain workplace organization.
  • Manages project administration for process modifications, including new product introductions.
  • Collaborates effectively within a team-oriented environment.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by management.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This role does not include supervisory responsibilities.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient in specialized equipment knowledge, including vision systems and performance testing tools.
  • Familiarity with CNC programming and troubleshooting.
  • Strong analytical skills for statistical data interpretation and problem-solving.
  • Technical expertise in manufacturing methodologies.
  • Understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and lubrication systems.
  • Knowledge of PLC systems and their applications.
  • Mechanical aptitude and reasoning capabilities.
  • Competence in precise measurement techniques and advanced mathematical skills.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Excel, Word, Solidworks, and AutoCAD LT.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Commitment to safety practices and ergonomic standards.
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends as necessary.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by management.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field, along with relevant experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience in capital procurement and production readiness.
  • Background in troubleshooting automated equipment.
  • Experience in designing fixtures for high-volume manufacturing.

  • Exposure to manufacturing environments necessitates the use of personal protective equipment, such as steel-toed shoes and safety glasses.
  • Experience with forklifts, walkie stackers, or scissor lifts is preferred.
