Marine Equipment Technician

You will be engaged as a Marine Equipment Technician within the Production Resources Department, contributing to essential operations.
Eligibility

Key Responsibilities
- Installation of steam or gas turbines, reduction gears, and other primary propulsion components.
- Maintenance and repair of various marine auxiliary systems, including catapults, ordnance machinery, steering gear, compressors, pumps, and valves.
- Operation of hand tools and testing equipment to ensure functionality.
- Troubleshooting malfunctions in marine machinery using advanced measuring devices and test equipment.
- Ensuring proper handling of materials to prevent contamination.
- Diagnosing operational failures in marine propulsion systems to assess repair needs.
- Planning and executing safe operations, ensuring all materials and tools are suitable for the tasks.
- Potential involvement in assembly/disassembly of nuclear reactor components and related support activities.
- Documentation of work performed and preparation of necessary reports.
Conditions of Employment
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and suitable for federal employment.
- Participation in the direct deposit pay program is required.
- Successful completion of a pre-appointment physical examination is mandatory.
- Maintenance of security clearance is essential.
Work Environment
- This role may involve exposure to hazardous physical and chemical agents.
- Ability to travel for extended periods may be required.
- Physical capability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 60 pounds is necessary.
Qualifications
- Candidates must demonstrate the necessary knowledge and skills through relevant experience and training.
