Job Overview

Position Summary:

This is a vital role within a medical office environment, focusing on delivering patient care under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor. The individual in this position plays a crucial part in assisting healthcare providers while ensuring a clean and safe workspace that adheres to the established protocols of the practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and arrange necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies for various medical procedures.
  • Manage specimens, prepare and monitor medications, and assist with dressing changes.
  • Establish and maintain a sterile environment, ensuring the sterile field is upheld during procedures.
  • Adhere to safety and sanitation protocols.
  • Order, maintain, and replenish medical supplies as needed.
  • Inspect, replace, and sterilize medical instruments regularly.
  • Process referrals and authorizations as required.
  • Handle incoming patient calls efficiently.
  • Assist in the examination and treatment of patients under physician guidance.
  • Gather medical histories, measure vital signs (such as pulse, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and document findings in patient records.
  • Collect samples from patients and prepare them for laboratory testing.
  • Set up treatment rooms for patient examinations.
  • Support physicians during procedures and injections.
  • Review daily schedules to ensure sufficient supplies are available.
  • Comply with and promote the mission, vision, and policies of the practice.
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Utilize electronic health records for assigned tasks.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Current certification as a medical assistant.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in a medical assistant role.

  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, sound judgment, discretion, and decision-making skills.

  • Ability to comprehend and execute both written and verbal instructions.
  • Familiarity with relevant computer systems, EMR software, and standard medical office equipment.

Mental and Physical Requirements: This role involves standing, bending, crouching, or stooping for approximately 75% of the day, with walking or sitting for the remainder. The ability to push, pull, or lift objects exceeding 50 pounds is necessary.
