Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mental Health Technician 3-4 to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. As a key member of our inpatient psychiatric unit, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist professional healthcare staff with patient procedures, ensuring a safe and efficient delivery of care.
  • Contribute to a safe environment by adhering to infection control protocols and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
  • Participate in the orientation and development of new Patient Care Assistants, promoting a culture of excellence and teamwork.
  • Perform unit support activities as needed, including administrative tasks and maintenance of patient records.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care coordination and patient outcomes.
Requirements
  • High School Graduate or Equivalent; Associate's degree in psychology, social sciences, or humanities preferred.
  • Documented proof of 4 years of experience caring for patients in an inpatient psychiatric setting, a Community Service Board, or equivalent as a direct care provider.
  • Current active CNA certification through the Virginia Board of Nursing or AAPT Certification.
  • BLS certification required.
Physical Demands

The job requires frequent bending, stooping, and traveling. The successful candidate must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids, and infectious disease.
