The Patient Care Technician (PCT) plays a vital role in the dialysis treatment process, supporting clinical staff to deliver prescribed treatments and ensuring safe care for every patient.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in infection control and risk management activities
  • Guide new patients through a comprehensive education plan
  • Monitor patients during dialysis, documenting changes and informing the charge nurse of any concerns
  • Set up and break down dialysis equipment
  • Insert and remove patient access needles
  • Calculate patient weight loss to reach dry weight
  • Determine patient care priorities and organize workload accordingly
  • Maintain professional relationships, observing patient privacy and rights
  • Maintain and track inventory
  • Perform laboratory work
