The Patient Care Technician plays a vital role in the dialysis treatment process, supporting clinical staff to deliver prescribed treatments. Our PCTs are an integral part of the interdisciplinary team, ensuring safe care and high-quality outcomes for every patient.

Schedule: Full-time, four 10-hour shifts starting at 4:30am; Sundays off; no overnight shifts

Compensation: Pay range from $17.50-$21.00 per hour, depending on healthcare experience; experience not required

Responsibilities

What You Can Expect:

  • Actively participate in infection control, risk management, and patient education activities
  • Guide new patients through 120-day education plan
  • Obtain and record patient vital signs and machine readings during treatment
  • Role under RN supervision
  • Set up and break down dialysis blood system for treatment
  • Insert and remove patient access needles
  • Monitor patients during dialysis, document changes, and inform charge nurse of any concerns
  • Calculate patients weight loss to reach dry weight
  • Determine patient care priorities and organize workload accordingly
  • Maintain professional working relationship, observing patient privacy and rights
  • Maintain and track inventory
  • Perform laboratory work
Qualifications

Successful Candidates Bring:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Desire to collaborate with care teams
  • Ability to problem solve

Education/Training:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Previous healthcare experience preferred, but not required
  • CNA, EMT, medical assistant, CNT, and/or phlebotomy skills desired
  • DCI provides a 3-month comprehensive education program, including classroom group sessions and one-on-one skills training
  • Dialysis experience not required, job shadow opportunities available
