Job Overview

Crawford Architects, LLC is in search of a Junior Architect to enhance our dynamic Kansas City office. We foster a culture of creativity and teamwork as we pursue innovation and excellence in our distinctive architectural practice.

Key Responsibilities:

The Junior Architect will play a vital role in supporting the principal architects and project managers through various project phases, including:

  • Developing and refining architectural designs, documentation, and design development.
  • Creating, modifying, and reviewing drawings in accordance with established standards.
  • Assessing architectural documents from developers for compliance with design standards.
  • Ensuring that documentation across all project phases adheres to quality assurance and best practice standards.
  • Translating design intent and conducting product and code research into technical documentation.
  • Conducting feasibility studies and concept designs.
  • Providing construction administration services and overseeing project completion.
  • Preparing As-Built drawing sets for client delivery.
  • Producing digital renderings and 3D modeling presentations.
  • Coordinating project information among clients, consultants, and contractors.
  • Maintaining effective relationships with clients, subcontractors, and construction teams, addressing inquiries and offering solutions.
  • Creating presentations for clients and participating in interviews.
  • Mentoring graduate designers in solving technical and design detail challenges while adhering to established standards.
Qualifications:

Education: A Bachelor of Architecture degree or a Master of Architecture (MArch) is preferred. An architecture license is required.

Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in architectural practice and documentation while working towards licensure.

Essential Skills:

The ideal candidate will possess strong creative and technical thinking abilities, along with:

  • In-depth knowledge of design principles and the capacity to interpret design concepts and layouts.
  • Familiarity with sustainability practices, including USGBC and LEED; LEED accreditation is preferred.
  • Understanding of building regulations, life safety codes, and design techniques.
  • Exceptional presentation and graphic communication skills.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective project management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and manage budgets while delivering high-quality service.
  • A collaborative mindset with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
