Overview of Cardinal Health's Production Operations

The Operations Manager is tasked with overseeing the effective functioning of light-duty machinery and automation systems. Responsibilities include setting up machinery, making necessary adjustments, and performing routine maintenance. Quality assurance is critical, utilizing prescribed gauges and fixtures to ensure precision. Some machinery may be operated numerically. The role also involves monitoring quality in line with statistical process controls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate all aspects of plant operations, focusing on production, safety, engineering, planning, continuous improvement, and quality in the manufacturing of medical devices.
  • Monitor operational performance against financial targets and implement adjustments as necessary.
  • Foster strong relationships with the workforce to proactively address and resolve issues.
  • Manage budget execution and spearhead cost-saving initiatives.
  • Provide clear expectations, training, and support to team members.
  • Maintain accountability for timely, budget-conscious, and high-quality outcomes.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to enhance manufacturing efficiency and reduce costs through optimal resource utilization and ongoing method evaluations.
  • Direct work priorities and resource allocation to meet overall objectives and timelines.
  • Develop and mentor direct reports, conducting performance evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal safety regulations for the production environment.
  • Work alongside quality leadership to uphold quality standards and implement cGMP practices in manufacturing.
  • Prepare and review departmental budgets, leading initiatives for cost and efficiency improvements.
  • Champion Continuous Improvement methodologies, including Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma, throughout the facility.
  • Stay informed about industry best practices and market trends.
  • Align manufacturing strategies with the broader plant objectives.
  • Collaborate with other plant leaders to identify and implement best practices.
  • Lead and cultivate a high-performance culture among employees.
  • Identify and implement career development strategies for staff.
  • Oversee departmental expansion and capacity, stepping in as plant manager when necessary.

Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • 6+ years of experience in manufacturing or a related sector, ideally within a GMP medical manufacturing context.
  • Proven track record in managing teams and achieving results.
  • Strong communication and financial acumen.
  • Experience in project management.
