Job Title: Capital Project Management Supervisor

Join Broward County Florida as a Capital Project Management Supervisor and take on a challenging role in the Construction Management Division. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning, design, and construction of complex capital vertical projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage and monitor construction contractors and consultants
  • Develop, administer, and negotiate construction and consultant contracts
  • Coordinate stakeholders, including user and County agencies, County Attorneys, Purchasing, Small Business Division, Building Departments, FDOT, and other regulatory agencies
  • Supervise other project managers and engineering technicians
  • Review project progress and resolve design and construction-related issues
  • Assist with contract developments and bidding process
  • Establish a Quality Control/Quality Assurance (QC/QA) Project Program and procedures
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in architecture and/or engineering or closely related field; Master's degree preferred
  • Six (6) years in professional architectural or engineering work, including four (4) years of experience in project management and supervision of staff
  • Registration as a professional architect or registered engineer
  • Master's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Urban Design, Master Planning, or closely related field
  • Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Certification
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
  • Certified Master Planner
  • Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) certification and/or Emergency Management certification

Work Environment:

The Physical Demands of this role include light work that involves walking or standing most of the time and involves exerting up to 20 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis.

This role is an advanced professional and administrative position with supervisory responsibilities in the management of vertical construction projects for the County.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience as a high-level project manager in large-scale ($15 million+), vertical construction projects.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in the planning, programming, design, procurement, documenting, and construction administration of projects as well as the oversight of multiple consulting professionals, contractors, and others.

The top candidate will possess strong communication skills as related to informing direct supervisors, County Administration, and elected officials.

The ideal candidate will have familiarity with the latest construction methods and technology, including Building Information Modeling (BIM), document control programs, and scheduling programs.

LEED Accreditation designation and experience are preferred.

Current registration as a Registered Architect or Professional Engineer is required at time of application.

Architects and Professional Engineers registered in jurisdictions outside of Florida will be considered upon demonstration of the candidate's ability to achieve reciprocal licensure in Florida at the time of hiring.
