Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Senior Director of Global Trade Compliance at Gateway Recruiting, INC. will spearhead the organization’s initiatives to ensure adherence to import and export laws and sanctions across all applicable global jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and enhancement of global trade compliance initiatives and ongoing improvements.
  • Guarantee the organization's compliance with export and import regulations for both Direct and Indirect Markets.
  • Manage restricted parties screening and oversee export licensing processes.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and Tax departments to manage global valuation for customs declarations.
  • Engage with trade-related governmental bodies both domestically and internationally.
  • Establish, maintain, and refine internal controls and operational procedures for trade compliance.
  • Improve the post-shipment audit program for imports and exports, along with the development and management of key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Identify and evaluate opportunities to facilitate trade in a compliant and cost-effective manner, including leveraging free trade agreements and trade preference programs.
  • Offer strategic insights on integrating trade compliance requirements into the organization's business practices.
  • Conduct compliance training sessions for personnel as necessary.
  • Address all trade compliance inquiries from employees within the organization.
  • Oversee the duty management program and ensure compliance with Free Trade Agreements and other duty preference initiatives.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in international trade, with a strong focus on customs and trade compliance.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a leadership role or managing a trade compliance program.
  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required.
  • Preferred knowledge of tariff classification, country of origin determination, and free trade agreements.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to develop innovative solutions to complex supply chain and logistics challenges.
  • Capable of leading complex, cross-functional projects, including defining scope, achieving consensus, executing tasks, and presenting outcomes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, particularly Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to travel for business purposes (approximately 5-10%).
