Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Central Intake Specialist to join our team at Henry Ford Health System. As a Central Intake Specialist, you will play a critical role in the coordination of patient care, ensuring seamless transitions and efficient communication between healthcare providers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Intake of new referrals by phone, fax, and/or computer, ensuring accurate and timely processing of patient information.
  • Coordinate insurance coverage with the Billing department and assist with coordination of care, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Routinely interact with physicians, nurses, case managers, and the general public regarding patient transitions and ongoing care in the home.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college-level coursework in business preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of intake, customer service, or billing experience; home health care intake or billing experience preferred.
  • General knowledge of medical coding and medical terminology required; advanced computer knowledge, keyboard experience, and Microsoft Office experience required, knowledge of Epic preferred.
  • Ability to analyze and improve intake procedures required.
