Key Responsibilities:

Provide guidance to GeorgiaGov staff and public health district personnel, including privacy officers, on adherence to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and related privacy matters. Evaluate and offer insights on data requests directed to GeorgiaGov to ensure compliance with HIPAA. Conduct inquiries into potential breaches of HIPAA regulations. Advise on legal matters concerning the Open Records Act and other federal or state privacy regulations, assisting with document requests as necessary. Collaborate with program staff on contracts, data-sharing agreements, and memoranda of understanding. Identify and assess potential risks in program operations and agreements, proposing strategies to mitigate those risks. Research and analyze legal issues impacting GeorgiaGov and its initiatives. Stay informed about relevant state and federal laws and regulations. Draft policies, legislative amendments, forms, correspondence, notices, and other legal documents as required. Perform additional duties as assigned by the General Counsel of GeorgiaGov.

A Juris Doctorate from an accredited institution and a valid license to practice law in Georgia, along with a minimum of four (4) years of managerial experience in a legal capacity, is required for this position.
