About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Facilities Director to join our team at Urgent Recruiting. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and operations of our facilities, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for our employees and clients.

Responsibilities
  1. Develop and Administer Facilities Plans: Create and implement plans for facilities operations and services, delegating tasks to assigned supervisory personnel.
  2. Lead and Manage Maintenance and Custodial Operations: Oversee all maintenance and custodial operations, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations, as well as Board of Education policies and procedures.
  3. Provide Leadership and Coordination: Offer overall leadership and coordination to the district's physical infrastructure, ensuring optimal integration, collaboration, and cost efficiency in the development and implementation of operating plans, systems, and procedures.
  4. Develop and Implement Maintenance Plans: Create and implement a multi-year Comprehensive Maintenance Plan that is both corrective and preventative for the upkeep of all facilities, grounds, and major facilities systems.
  5. Oversee Facilities Management and Operations: Evaluate and oversee all district facilities management and operations, ensuring high standards for cleanliness, attractiveness, and safety are maintained.
  6. Develop and Manage Budgets: Develop and manage annual budgets for all departments under your oversight, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  7. Conduct Regular Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of all school facilities, grounds, and equipment to identify areas for improvement and recommend necessary changes.
  8. Collaborate with Executive Management: Collaborate with the Superintendent and School Business Administrator to develop and review the district's Long Range Facilities Plan.
  9. Establish Department Policies: Establish department policies and procedures in collaboration with the Assistant School Business Administrator, ensuring effective utilization of available funds, personnel, equipment, materials, and supplies.
  10. Review and Evaluate Programs: Review and evaluate ongoing facility maintenance, design, and construction, and custodial programs for efficiency, effectiveness, and suitability to current conditions.
  11. Develop Capital Planning Process: Assist in the development of a capital planning and tracking process to establish clear goals and priorities in the capital projects area.
  12. Work Collaboratively: Work collaboratively with the Directors of Facility Maintenance and/or Special Assistant and Design Services to develop and implement an effective preventative maintenance program.
  13. Oversee Policy Development: Oversee the development of policies and procedures for each of the Facilities departments.
  14. Make Recommendations: Make recommendations to the Assistant School Business Administrator regarding changes in organizational structure or established lines of authority.
  15. Prepare Reports and Documents: Oversee the development of all reports and documents that require the Superintendent's approval.
Requirements and Qualifications
  1. Knowledge of Construction Codes and Regulations: Demonstrate a knowledge of construction codes, health and safety regulations, financial and management practices, purchasing, supervision, and motivation of personnel, and state and local regulations regarding the maintenance of school buildings and equipment.
  2. Knowledge of NJ Civil Service Rules and Regulations: Knowledgeable of NJ Civil Service Rules & Regulations preferred and ability to work with multiple unions.
  3. Working Knowledge of AHERA, IAQ, IPM, and Lead/Copper Regulations: Working knowledge of AHERA, IAQ, IPM, and Lead/Copper Regulations.
  4. Excellent Computer Skills: Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) & Computer Maintenance Management Systems.
  5. Familiarity with ESIP and Solar PPA Projects: Familiar with ESIP and Solar PPA projects.
  6. Initiative and Problem-Solving Skills: Demonstrate a high degree of initiative in resolving problems and developing and implementing solutions in an independent manner.
  7. Project Management Skills: Excellent project management skills.
  8. Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Demonstrate superior interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
  9. Attention to Detail: Extraordinary attention to detail.
  10. Strategic Thinking: Strong ability to think strategically and creatively to strike the right tone when working through complex issues with internal and external stakeholders.
  11. Leadership and Change Management: Ability to lead and promote change in a fluid and entrepreneurial environment.
  12. Organizational and Time Management Skills: Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet concurrent deadlines.
  13. Financial Analysis and Reporting: Ability to generate and interpret financial district and department reports.
  14. Knowledge of Accepted Business Practice: Knowledge of accepted business practice in school districts related to budget preparation and administration.
