Job Description

Harris-Stowe State University seeks a highly skilled Chief Human Resources Officer to lead the university's human resource function. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall administration, coordination, and evaluation of the human resource function.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruit and retain exemplary professional staff and faculty.
  • Develop and implement effective training programs for university staff.
  • Manage a zero-based budget for employee-related legal expenses.
  • Identify and implement succession planning for critical positions.
  • Review and recommend improvements to the university's policies, procedures, and practices on personnel matters.
  • Maintain knowledge of higher education trends and employment legislation.
  • Ensure university compliance with federal, state, and local legislation.
  • Develop and implement wage and benefit planning to attract and retain top talent.
  • Develop and maintain a human resource information system.
  • Supervise the human resource department staff.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • 6-10 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.

Working Environment:

  • This position works in an environment with low noise levels.

Travel:

  • This position may travel up to 5% of the time.
