Job Title: Cultural Affairs Project Supervisor

Join the City of Atlanta's team as a Cultural Affairs Project Supervisor, where you will play a crucial role in supporting the Mayor's Office of Cultural Affairs in the performance of duties associated with the Public Art Program.

Job Summary:

The Cultural Affairs Project Supervisor will manage, coordinate, and oversee public art projects within Atlanta's Public Arts Program. This includes working with OCA staff, artists, contractors, and vendors to facilitate the construction and installation of public artwork, serving as a liaison between artists, property managers, OCA Public Art Program Manager, city staff, and the public for public art projects, and performing related duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage, organize, and administer public art projects and contracts, ensuring timely completion and installation within budget.
  • Research and recommend public art sites and potential future projects, coordinating project meetings with artists, contractors, property owners/managers, and OCA staff.
  • Direct and coordinate project support services throughout the bid and construction process, conferring and working with artists throughout the design, development, construction, fabrication, and installation phases of a project.
  • Provide support and assistance to the Public Art Program Manager for current and future public art projects and programs, assisting in the development, implementation, and assessment of policies and procedures for the Public Art Program.
  • Prepare, disseminate, and solicit Requests for Qualifications and Proposals, marketing and announcing art project availability, negotiating contractual obligations with artists.
  • Serve as a liaison between staff and the public for current and future public art projects, interfacing with Atlanta organizations and businesses, community and civic leaders, industry professionals, and artists.
Requirements:
  • BS/BA from an accredited college or university in visual arts, design, planning, arts administration, construction planning, public/business administration, or a closely related field.
  • At least three years of experience in public art project management or a related field.
  • Valid driver's license.
Working Conditions:

The Cultural Affairs Project Supervisor will work under direct supervision, reporting to the Public Art Program Manager, and general supervision of the Executive Director. The position requires the ability to work independently and collaboratively to see projects through from inception to final delivery.
