Associate Director of Local Government Affairs

We are seeking a highly skilled Associate Director of Local Government Affairs to join our team at Emory University. This role will be responsible for coordinating and administering a robust advocacy program at the local government level for city and county municipalities in which Emory has a presence.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of local government and civic leaders, as well as excellent communication and project management skills. They will be responsible for tracking all CoA and County activity, attending city/commission meetings, taking minutes/notes, and sharing them with appropriate leaders.
The Associate Director will also ensure that leaders know of relevant agenda items of interest to or of impact on Emory, have been briefed, and are invited to attend meetings addressing those items. They will clearly communicate to the AVP of Community Affairs and OGCA VP on a consistent basis regarding local affairs matters, and remain coordinated with the federal and state affairs teams on overall strategy.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree and four years of experience in program/project administration or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. They will also have strong relationships with local government and civic leaders, a demonstrated understanding of legislative, budget, and regulatory issues, and excellent communication and project management skills.
This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly, but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. The schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of the department, and this role requires residency in the state of GA.
