Position Overview:
This role is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), which provides a reimbursement option for student loan payments.

Applicants must fulfill specific eligibility criteria as per VHA policy and submit their EDRP application within four months of their appointment.

Approval, award amounts (up to $200,000), and eligibility duration (ranging from one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after a thorough review of the EDRP application.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Duties:
The physician will perform and document comprehensive history and physical examinations, evaluate and manage a panel of primary care patients, and ensure timely documentation in computerized medical records.

Responsibilities include providing medical care for both acute and chronic conditions, as well as preventive care for veterans.

Additional duties involve ordering necessary diagnostic tests, medications, and laboratory tests, ensuring timely follow-up on results and patient inquiries, and developing treatment plans in accordance with established protocols.

Patient education is a critical component, covering topics such as nutritional counseling, smoking cessation, immunizations, health screenings, and chronic disease management.

Consultation with other specialties may be required, and care for female patients may be part of the responsibilities.


Work Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (subject to change based on agency needs).

Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the basic requirements outlined in the job announcement, including:
- **U.S. Citizenship:** Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens.
- **Education:** Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree from an accredited institution.
- **Licensure:** Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. State, Territory, or Commonwealth.
- **Residency Training:** Completion of residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.

Physical Requirements:
Light lifting and carrying (under 15 pounds), use of fingers, walking, standing, and the ability to distinguish basic colors are necessary for this role.
