Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at Mediko Inc. as a Correctional Healthcare Specialist. This role will involve providing medical care to patients in a correctional setting, working closely with our physician to ensure proper treatment and care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide medical care to patients in a correctional setting, including administering medication, conducting medical history interviews, and preparing medical reports.
  • Work closely with our physician to ensure proper treatment and care for patients.
  • Schedule dental and medical appointments as needed.
  • Provide emergency medical assistance as required.
  • Conduct medical history interviews and prepare medical history and physical reports.
  • Assist the center's Physician in conducting sick call.
  • Administer medicine dosage and treatment per Physician's orders.
  • Maintain control of all medications and drugs on hand in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that policies and procedures regarding the Medical Department are followed.
  • Complete reports and medical forms.
  • Ensure medical office is clean and properly stocked, and all medications and supplies are promptly ordered.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Completion of an Accredited Nursing Program leading to licensure with the ability to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • High school graduate or equivalent, and must be eighteen (18) years of age or older.
  • Active, unencumbered state/commonwealth Licensed Practical Nurse license.
  • Minimum of one (1) year nursing experience, preferably in a correctional center.
  • Active CPR/BLS certificate required (American Heart Association/American Red Cross guideline approved).
  • Combination of education and experience equivalent to these qualifications may be substituted.
