Job Title: Building Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Building Design Engineer to join our team. As a Building Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing various types of buildings for construction, including agricultural, commercial, residential, and industrial.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop plan views, cross sections, construction details, and other necessary documents for building construction
  • Develop preliminary drawings for buildings at the initial stage of quoting
  • Employ structural analysis to determine loads on structural members
  • Employ structural design software to size members under various loads
  • Utilize the International Building Code (IBC) and provisions in the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) 7
  • Learn and understand our product lines
  • Develop estimates for various client buildings, including quantity take-off of materials and applicable material costing
  • Build job knowledge by offering supportive communication to management and peers
  • Communicate with others based on knowledge of procedures gained from sufficient on-the-job experience
  • Produce consistent, error-free work based on defined regulations and standards
  • Use a steady, methodical work style to complete estimation projects on time and error-free
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of construction methods, materials, structural design, and building codes
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and architectural drawings
  • Ability to perform relevant structural analysis
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Engineering or a related field of study
  • 3-5 years of experience in the study or practice of Building Design/Engineering
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, AutoCAD, or related CAD drafting software is preferred
  • Willingness to jump in and roll up your sleeves to help out when necessary
  • Able and interested in communicating with others based on job knowledge and expertise
  • Work at a steady, even pace to promote accuracy and quality of work through repetitive routines
  • Lead by example, with first-hand knowledge of the area of expertise
  • Follow established guidelines, structure, and policies, while working with and for others
