Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Opportunity

Under the direction of a radiologist, the Diagnostic Medical Sonographer performs diagnostic medical ultrasound examinations accurately, independently, and efficiently.

Department Description

We are equipped with the latest diagnostic imaging technology and have a team of expert imaging technologists and board-certified radiologists who are dedicated to diagnosing illnesses and injuries quickly and effectively.

Primary Job Responsibilities
  1. Prepares patient and independently performs Ultrasound exams & procedures, including abdomen, OB/GYN, small parts, and intra-operative
  2. Assists Radiologist with invasive procedures, and vascular exams, utilizes 2-D, real time, M-Mode, Pulsed Doppler, and color flow to maximize diagnostic information
  3. Evaluates and assesses the patient's condition based upon information from the referring physician, medical records, and patient interview; selects appropriate instrumentation for the exam
  4. Assists physicians with special, interventional radiological procedures, performs portable procedures including bedside, operating room, emergency room and other areas outside the Ultrasound suite
  5. Transfers and positions patient safely and properly for examination, observes and monitors patient's condition and reactions to exam
  6. Produces technically acceptable Ultrasound exams in accordance with departmental procedures, selects proper technical factors, reviews and evaluates Ultrasound images to determine that they are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes and assesses need for further views
  7. Performs quality assurance checks on equipment and processes per department policies
  8. Prepares preliminary diagnosis / report for radiologist, including anatomic and physiological data and diagnostic observations, accurately inputs exam orders, patient data, patient charges, and prepares reports
  9. Answers phones; assists in other areas, such as order entry, image library, scheduling, patient transport
  10. Sets up exam rooms, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are ready, inventories supplies and linens, restocks rooms as needed
  11. Cleans and tidies exam rooms, patient holding rooms, wait rooms, etc
  12. Coordinates equipment repairs and troubleshoots supply problems
Required Position Qualifications
  • Completion of diagnostic ultrasound program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) AND Registered in abdominal and obstetrical ultrasound OR experience equivalent to criteria for eligibility for registration in abdominal and obstetrical ultrasound by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
